hingoli has a rich history shaped by legends, royal rule, and social transformation. It is believed that the name “Chingoli” originated from the term “Simha-Oli.” The remains of mangrove forests and the Karimara temple strengthen this belief. During the reign of the Karthikappally kings, the region was an important center. Dutch records referred to Karthikappally as “Martha,” a small kingdom formed by the union of Karunagappally and Karimpaly.
